Whether you are looking to study for personal enjoyment, develop your career or wish to take the next step towards higher education, Lifelong Learning at the University of Southampton provides a varied programme of evening courses and events for the wider community.

At Lifelong Learning our motto is Meet, Learn, Enjoy. We aim to offer a learning experience that is sociable and enjoyable, so that you can engage with new ideas, skills and viewpoints, drawing on our latest research and teaching expertise.
We offer courses in a wide variety of subjects, which reflect the expertise and academic excellence of the University. Subjects include Creative Writing, English Literature, Film, History, Philosophy, Reflective Art, Modern Languages and many more.

Languages
Bookings for 2025/26 language courses will open in the summer and courses will start in October 2025.

Arts and Humanities
We are offering a variety of weekly courses which will give you insights into some fascinating topics and these include Art, Film and English Literature. Courses last for between 6 and 8 weeks and are suitable for beginners with no prior knowledge of the subject.
