Advances in Geospatial Data Science Summer School 2026

Southampton Geospatial Summer School 2026 offers an intensive five day programme covering artificial intelligence in geospatial contexts, remote sensing methods, drone data collection, Earth Observation, spatial data management and applied geospatial analysis. The programme includes practical sessions using QGIS alongside demonstrations of contemporary geospatial AI workflows.

Participants will engage with drone data collection in the field, UAV data processing, Earth Observation analysis and population mapping techniques. The course integrates conceptual foundations with hands on analytical practice using real datasets.

No prior expertise in Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence is required to attend this course. However, some familiarity with GIS concepts will be useful. The programme is structured to support participants from different backgrounds while progressively introducing AI related approaches within geospatial workflows.

Delivered in person at the University of Southampton, the Summer School combines lectures, demonstrations, practical sessions and structured discussion led by contributors from across multiple Faculties and external collaborators. Participants will receive a certificate of completion.
