The National Biofilms Innovation Centre (NBIC) is bringing together industry, technology providers and academic researchers for ‘Biofilms Beyond Healthcare: Industry Challenges, Solutions and Collaboration’ an in-person workshop taking place on 8 September 2026 at the University of Nottingham.

The event will explore the biofilm-related challenges facing industry beyond healthcare and provide a platform for organisations to share experiences, showcase solutions and develop collaborative approaches to tackling biofilms across sectors including food production, advanced manufacturing, water, agriculture, clean energy, transport and the built environment.

The Tetrapyrrole Discussion Group (TPDG) brings together researchers working across all aspects of tetrapyrrole science, from fundamental chemistry to biological function and emerging applications. The meeting will showcase the latest advances in the chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, structural biology, biophysics, and biotechnology of tetrapyrroles, including heme, chlorophylls, corrins (vitamin B₁₂), bilins, porphyrins, and related cofactors.

The programme will feature invited lectures, contributed talks, and poster presentations, providing an inclusive and collaborative forum for discussion, networking, and the exchange of new ideas. Researchers from academia and industry at all career stages are warmly welcome, with a particular emphasis on supporting early career researchers through opportunities to present their work, develop collaborations, and engage with leading scientists in the field.

Whether your research focuses on fundamental mechanisms, chemical synthesis, spectroscopy, enzymology, metabolism, medicine, biotechnology, or environmental and industrial applications of tetrapyrroles, the TPDG meeting provides an excellent opportunity to connect with the wider tetrapyrrole community and explore the breadth of this vibrant interdisciplinary field. The TPDG has a long tradition of fostering collaboration and bringing together scientists across the diverse disciplines of tetrapyrrole research.
