As workplaces increasingly depend on digital systems for everyday operations, the security and resilience of data has become critical to business continuity, trust, and operational integrity. This hands-on workshop introduces participants to key cybersecurity concepts and practical strategies for protecting digital assets. It is designed for professionals responsible for managing, maintaining, or safeguarding organisational data and digital systems, regardless of technical background. Participants will learn how to recognise common threats, apply practical safeguards using accessible tools and approaches, and understand the basic operational steps involved in responding to security incidents within real-world organisational workflows. The session also highlights the importance of effective communication between operational staff and IT/security teams. The goal is not to turn participants into cybersecurity specialists or “ethical hackers,” but to develop informed professionals who can support organisational digital resilience and communicate effectively with technical security teams. Foundations of Digital Preservation: Integrity Checking, Format Migration, and Workflows (Online)DescriptionThis is a hands-on online workshop designed to introduce the core concepts, tools, and workflows needed to preserve digital content with integrity and sustainability. Over the past few decades, the digital preservation community has devised a number of open-source tools and workflows to support the long term preservation of digital assets. Even though digital preservation is a “solved problem,” there is a need for support in the field for professionals looking to earn proficiency in these tools and apply skills in their own institutional contexts. This session is ideal for archivists, digital preservation professionals, librarians, records managers, and IT staff working with long-term data stewardship. Whether you're just getting started or looking to refine your preservation strategy, this workshop offers accessible guidance on working with file formats, ensuring data integrity, and managing digital preservation workflows.
