ISVRISVRElectrophysiology for Infant TestingDescriptionThis course is aimed to help participants develop knowledge and practical skills in electrophysiology related to the testing of infants. It is intended for people who have a degree in Audiology and professional registration to work in Audiology (for example with the Academy for Healthcare Science), and who are interested to develop skills in infant paediatric assessment It is envisaged that students who take the M level module 'paediatric audiology' at the University of Southampton AND this electrophysiology short course will have gained sufficient theoretical knowledge for the British Academy of Audiology (BAA) Higher Training Scheme module in newborn assessment. It is a training course that will increase knowledge of electrophysiology, with a particular focus on the Auditory Brainstem Response, but it does not imply clinical competence. For that, students would need to take an approved training scheme which includes practical training, such as the BAA Higher Training Scheme module in newborn assessment. The workshop will include an assessment of newborn waveform analysis at the end. Participants must pass the waveform assessment in order to be awarded the certificate for the workshop and demonstrate their theoretical knowledge of ABR assessment for the HTS newborn assessment module. Lunch and refreshments are included.
