Level 1 mentor training explores the core practices of mentoring Beginner and Early Career Teachers, equipping mentors with research-informed and practical approaches. The session focuses on developing hands-on skills in a practical and accessible way.
Participants will gain an understanding of mentor knowledge, attributes, and effective models of mentoring. Key areas include building strong, supportive relationships, managing tricky situations, and navigating challenging professional conversations. The training also covers how to observe practice and provide developmentally appropriate feedback that supports reflection and action.
Level 2 mentor training supports more advanced mentoring practices, with a focus on inclusive and adaptive approaches. Mentors will explore a range of research-informed models—including Instructional Coaching—and develop practical strategies to facilitate progress for Beginner and Early Career Teachers.
The training includes guidance on supporting neurodivergent teachers and those with additional physical or emotional needs. Mentors will build skills in co-planning, non-evaluative lesson observation, and live coaching. Through varied mentoring scenarios, participants will apply these models and approaches in realistic contexts.
