The online RYA Essential Navigation and Seamanship course offers a great introduction to navigation and safety awareness for new or inexperienced skippers and crew, and those wanting to refresh their skills. In fact it's for anyone interested in sailing, motor boating, sea angling or diving, and works well in complementing our on-the-water training, such as the Powerboat Level 2, Start Yachting and Helmsman courses.

An online course for anyone who operates a fixed or handheld marine VHF radio in UK waters or on board a UK flagged vessel.
These courses lead to a qualification in basic first aid. The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) One Day First Aid course is designed to provide a working knowledge of first aid for people using small craft and to support skippers. It fulfils the requirements for professional skippers working within 60 miles of a safe haven.
The course is approved by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) and partly satisfies the requirements of commercial work afloat. The syllabus is based on recommendations from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the MCA. The course cost includes the provision of a First Aid Handbook.
All courses run on a Saturday at the University Watersports Centre.

If you wish to become a commercial skipper and commercially endorse your Level 2 powerboat certificate or your Advanced powerboat qualification following your Advanced exam you need to be able to show that you are aware of your duties as a skipper.
An online course suitable for anyone working with children and vulnerable adults in an RYA environment. This includes those volunteering or working at recognised training centres and affiliated clubs.
