'Whats the problem with vaping?' resource pack DescriptionThese resources are designed by young people for young people — created using research from the University of Southampton — aiming to help highlight the negative consequences of vaping on both health and the environment. Through a mix of group work and engaging lesson activities, these materials will promote young people’s awareness of the questionable marketing tactics often used by the vaping industry to glamourise and play down the potential risks and consequences of using their products. Importantly, the lessons highlight that it will take time to get results from scientific research on all the health risks of vaping, given it is still a relatively new phenomenon. Students are given the opportunity to explore parallels with the tobacco industry — showing how our attitude to smoking has changed over time and asking what we can learn from the history of smoking.
