This one day (taught over two mornings) online course introduces participants to Respondent Centred Design, its origins and applicability to survey design. Through hands-on activities participants will develop understanding of the principles and how to apply them.

This course is relevant to people involved in the design of surveys, survey communications and survey questionnaires.

Course Description

Respondent Centre Design (RCD) is an approach that puts the survey participant at the heart of survey design. This course provides an introduction to RCD and provides and overview of the Respondent Centred Design Framework and Agile delivery methodology that support RCD.

The course covers:

  • What respondent centred design is
  • The ways in which RCD is used in the design of everyday objects and services, and its application to surveys
  • The Respondent Centred Design Framework (RCDF) and its application to survey design
  • How to use the RCDF in Agile survey development

Throughout the course participants will have opportunities to practice using RCD principles and the RCDF. By the end of the course participants will have:

  • An understanding of RCD and its relevance to survey design
  • The ability to use the RCDF in agile survey development
