RYA Safety Boat
This course is designed for candidates wishing to drive a safety boat in a club setting or when teaching groups on water. This course provides the skills required when acting as an escort craft, safetyboat or coach boat for a fleet of dinghies, windsurfers or canoes and for racing or training activities.
You must hold Powerboat Level 2 to participate in this course.

What we DO provide: Wetsuits, spray suits (waterproofs), wetsuit boots, wellington boots, lifejackets, buoyancy aids, large waterproof bags, helmets (where appropriate).
What we DON’T provide: Gloves, hats, towels, change of clothes, thermals, jumpers, sun cream, bottled water, food, toiletries (shower gel etc).
Weather: Practical sessions will always take place, other than in gales or flat calm. An alternative session will be arranged (if at all possible, if these occasions arise).
Why not check the weather before you come:
Safety: Buoyancy aids are provided and must always be worn when afloat. Any course member with a medical condition, e.g. Diabetes, should relay this information to the Instructor before the beginning of the course – this will be treated in the strictest confidence. Please make sure you complete a medical questionnaire before going on the water.
Although it is not essential, it is advisable that you are able to swim 50m.
All instructors are first aid trained; please approach them if you require help.
Facilities: Limited parking is available on site. There are shower facilities available.
Meals: Candidates are asked to bring a packed lunch and something warm to drink.
Course Cancellation: If insufficient numbers enrol on the course then the course may be cancelled. If we have to cancel a course due to lack of numbers you will be offered the chance to transfer on to another course or be refunded in full. Either must be done within the same academic year. In no other circumstances will persons normally be entitled to a refund in full or part.
All equipment and the cost of the log book and certificate are included in the cost of the course
