Are you interested in developing your teaching skills and want to use outdoors as part of the learning environment?

This Saturday morning workshop is designed to introduce participants to key points when facilitation learning outside the classroom on their own site and other appropriate off-site locations.

This session is packed full of great ideas to get started. Full use will be made of the gardens during the morning to try out some of the science based activities. Carla Thomas-Bufin, Head of Education at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens will lead the session.

Bring a packed lunch or eat in the cafe and then stay on to enjoy free entry to the gardens.

Following the course participants will be able to :

Discover ways to make greater use of the outdoor learning on your own site.

Explore how to manage pupils in an outdoor learning environment.

Find ways to further develop teaching skills using the outdoors as part of the learning environment.

Join us for a hands-on morning of activities at Harold Hillier Gardens near Romsey – to include pond dipping and carrying out meadow sweeps.

Find out how to use and develop simple keys to identify, classify and describe living creatures (invertebrates) as related to the National Curriculum.

There will be an opportunity to look at relevant resources to support your teaching.

Carla Thomas-Buffin, Head of Education at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens will lead the morning. You will also have the opportunity to use the beautiful out door facilities available for early years settings and Primary schools and try out activities in the Gardens that you will be able to utilise when teaching in your own school.
