Course Description

Module Description

This module provides an introduction to Greek Mythology by focusing on particular myths. Students become familiar with important mythological figures and stories through the study and discussion of excerpts from Classical Greek texts. Students are also exposed to a wide range of texts and films that have been inspired by the original Greek myths.


Aims and leaning outcomes

Upon completion of this module, students will have:

  • A firm knowledge of fundamental Greek myths and their significance in antiquity as well as in modern life
  • An in-depth understanding and appreciation of the influence of Greek Mythology in European and Western culture.
  • A sound knowledge of the original sources of Greek myths
