The University of Southampton provides car parking for staff, students, visitors and contractors both on the academic sites and at Halls of Residence. However, demand for car parking permits considerably outstrips supply, particularly at Highfield. No-one may park on site without displaying a valid permit unless they are visitors who can be booked into the Visitors’ Car Park at Highfield. Student parking at academic sites is normally limited to those with medical needs.
First year undergraduates resident in Halls are required to agree not to keep a car in Southampton. Applications for exemption on certificated relevant medical or extreme compassionate grounds need to be made in writing to firstname.lastname@example.org before taking up residence.
Permits are not required for motor cycles or scooters but they must not be parked in areas designated for car parking.
Information on graduation parking can be found through the Graduation homepage at http://www.southampton.ac.uk/graduation/index.shtml and how to get here.
